A plan has been approved to offer Sixth Form students the opportunity to study Basketball as an option alongside three other Level 3 Sixth Form qualifications from September 2015.  Students will receive five hours of coaching each week, which will take place during the traditional school day, as well as dedicated sessions in the local gym working on developing Basketball specific strength and conditioning.  In addition to the practical elements, students will work towards a Level 1 Coaching accreditation, Refereeing and Table Officiating qualifications in addition to gaining local primary school coaching experience.

The School teams in Key Stage Five would compete in 4 different competitions after-school and at weekends.   The vision for the Academy is to win district competitions, compete at the highest level (the aim being national level competitions) and ultimately grow players to a level where they play in the national league.

The Robert Napier School Basketball Academy started in September 2014 and now boasts 25 members across years 7-11. Each day students receive one hours coaching before school from qualified coaches and teachers. Formal links with Kent Crusaders also allows the School to utilise the services of their full-time professional coaching staff for three of the five hours.

After-school and at weekends, there are matches for all year groups.  This season, Robert Napier School have played over 60 matches across 4 different competitions. The Academy has made the district final in 4 age groups winning a staggering three competitions.

No other school in Medway offers the quality or quantity of coaching and the opportunities for matches currently on offer at the Robert Napier School.
